About the Highly Skilled Professional Visa
Japan's Highly Skilled Professional visa offers significant benefits to qualified applicants:

Points Categories
The HSP visa uses a points-based system across three categories:
Category 1: Advanced Academic Research
For researchers and academics at universities and research institutions.
Category 2: Advanced Specialized/Technical Activities
For engineers, IT specialists, and other technical professionals.
Category 3: Advanced Business Management
For business executives, entrepreneurs, and managers - now fully supported in our calculator.
How Points Are Calculated
Points are awarded based on various factors:
- Academic background: Degrees, multiple degrees, top university graduation
- Professional experience: Years of relevant work experience
- Annual salary: Higher income earns more points
- Age: Younger applicants receive more points
- Japanese ability: JLPT certification or Japanese university degree
- Bonus points: Patents, investment, government recognition, etc.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Highly Skilled Professional visa, you need:
- 70 points or more on the points calculation
- Valid job offer or business activity in Japan
- Clean immigration and criminal record
Benefits by Points Level
- 70+ points: HSP visa eligibility, PR possible in 3 years
- 80+ points: PR possible in just 1 year
